World Penguin Day is officially celebrated internationally on April 25th. This is the perfect time to reflect on these wonderful creatures and the contributions they bring to our world. I had the opportunity to visit their home last year just as bird flu was becoming a threat globally, including Antartica. We had extremly cautious protocols to prevent any exposure to the Antarctic life and understanding the need to preserve their environment.
Penguins are incredibly personable… almost human-like. They seemed to be very innocent and trusting in nature. We kept our distance and avoided any disruption into their world. They helped me understand how the entire globe is connected together and what we do at home can help or hinder far away locations.
